16 Mar 2020 - 10:59
TIRANA / BRUSSELS / GENEVA. After carefully reviewing circumstances related to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions (GID), UN Representative Cihan Sultanoglu, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus Rudolf Michalka, and EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar have today decided to postpone the 51st GID round, which was due to take place on 31 March -1 April 2020.
11 Dec 2019 - 13:36
The Geneva International Discussions (GID) held its 50th round on 10-11 December 2019. Over the past decade, engagement by participants contributed to relative stability, while core security and humanitarian issues have remained unresolved.
6 Nov 2019 - 10:25
The Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions call for the immediate re-opening of all crossing points on the administrative boundary line (ABL) with South Ossetia. Recent months have seen a serious deterioration of the security situation on the ground, which has raised fears amongst the local population. The engagement in the Ergneti Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) framework by all participants shows the mutual concern and commitment of all to de-escalate, which the Co-Chairs welcome.
9 Oct 2019 - 13:20 | Geneva
The 49th round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) took place today.
15 Sep 2019 - 13:12
The ongoing closure of crossing points on the administrative boundary line with South Ossetia is creating additional hardship for the local people and is further raising tensions. We are in contact with all relevant actors, urging them to abstain from taking unilateral steps that have negative humanitarian consequences for conflict-affected people and undermine stability on the ground.
28 Aug 2019 - 14:33
The recent developments in the Gugutiantkari area have raised tensions on the ground and have humanitarian consequences for the local people.  As with all such fencing, the newly erected structures hinder freedom of movement for people living there, prevent them from reaching their orchards and threaten access to irrigation water.
3 Jul 2019 - 15:46 | Geneva
The 48th round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) took place today. The discussions were held in a business-like atmosphere against the backdrop of recent developments on the ground.
3 Apr 2019 - 16:14
The 47th round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) took place today. In Working Group I, the Co-Chairs (UN Representative Cihan Sultanoğlu, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Rudolf Michalka and EU Special Representative Toivo Klaar) noted that the security situation on the ground had been challenged especially by the death of Georgian citizen Irakli Kvaratskhelia in the custody of Russian Federation Border Guards in the Gali district on 10 March 2019, as well as the temporary restrictions and closures of crossing points imposed in January 2019.
15 Mar 2019 - 12:16
The Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions welcome the reopening of crossings points on 15 March. However, they also reiterate their conviction that the closure was not justified. They had made this position clear through continuous engagement since the first day of the closure on 12 January, as well as at the Ergneti IPRM meeting on 8 February and during their meetings in Tskhinvali on 12 March.
