DPPA is mandated to advance United Nations efforts to prevent conflict and build sustainable peace worldwide.

 

The United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) leads United Nations efforts in preventive diplomacy, mediation, conflict prevention and peacebuilding. DPPA supports peace initiatives led by the Secretary-General, oversees mediation, political transition and peacebuilding processes, and assists Member States with electoral processes. It also supports special political missions, provides early warning and political analysis, and works with regional partners to address political crises and sustain peace.

Rosemary A. DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, briefs the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.
