Northeast Asia is home to some of the world's largest economies and a complex regional security landscape shaped by historical and territorial disputes. DPPA promotes dialogue and preventive diplomacy, encouraging countries in the region to manage differences peacefully and strengthen cooperation in pursuit of lasting peace and stability.
DPPA works with governments, regional organizations and civil society to advance peace and security in Northeast Asia. The Department convenes regional dialogues on preventive diplomacy, women, peace and security, and youth participation, while supporting national capacities for conflict prevention. Through partnerships with Member States, UN entities and regional organizations, DPPA promotes confidence-building and inclusive approaches to addressing shared regional challenges.
